By appropriately controlling the transmission or interruption of power from a power-transmitting device to a power-receiving device, this invention solves the problem of a power-transmitting circuit being damaged by an increase in the amount of current supplied thereto. This power-transmitting device contains the following: a power-transmitting circuit that has a second coil (24) for supplying power to a first coil (34) in a power-receiving device; a third coil (26) that is magnetically coupled to the second coil (24); and a rotation device that rotates the third coil (26) about an axis of rotation (262) that intersects the winding axis (241) of the second coil so as to change the impedance of the power-transmitting circuit such that the aforementioned power is either interrupted or supplied.
