The operation section comprises: a grip portion, which is connected to the base end of the inserted section that is inserted into an aperture and which is gripped by an operator to operate the inserted section; bending operation knobs provided on said grip portion for bending the bending portion of the inserted section; a protruding region, which is formed so as to protrude from the grip portion in the radial direction with respect to the longitudinal axis of the grip portion on the surface of the grip portion between the surface on which the bending operation knobs are disposed and the surface against which the palm of the hand with which the operator grips the grip portion rests; a pressed switch, which is disposed on the protruding region for operating the inserted section; and a slanted surface, which is formed on the inserted section-side of the protruding region separated from the pressed switch by a specified distance and which decreases the magnitude of protrusion in the radial direction.
