CORROSION-RESISTANT TITANIUM ALLOY

The invention relates to metallurgy, and more particularly to corrosion-resistant titanium alloys which can be used in pieces of chemical production equipment, for example for manufacturing pipe fittings for use in the chlorine production process, and in heat-exchange apparatus and steam generators. The claimed alloy contains the following components (in wt%): 3.5-5.0 aluminium; 1.2-2.5 vanadium; not more than 0.30 zirconium; not more than 0.12 silicon; not more than 0.25 iron; not more than 0.15 oxygen; not more than 0.006 hydrogen; not more than 0.04 nitrogen; 0.2-4.0 carbon; and the remainder titanium, where the alloying element is carbon. The alloy has enhanced resistance to crevice corrosion in saturated solutions of NaCl with a pH level of <4.0 and at temperatures greater than 100°C.
