[Also in Group XXVIII] A jig or model comprises a framework of plastic tubular members, some of which are connected by ball-type joints 15 bonded with cement. The jig has a working-surface 10 supported on an upper lattice 12 supported in turn by struts 13 and braces 14 on a lower lattice 11. The ball-joints consist of a ball 16, Fig. 3, connected to a saddle 17 bonded to a tubular member 18, the ball being bonded to a connecting member 20 by synthetic cement 21, retained by a wooden plug 22, after the frame has been set in its desired configuration. The saddle 17 may be flat for securing to a non- tubular member. Plane feet 23-25 having L, T or X jointing-channels are bonded to the base of the framework, a foot having an X- joint being shown in Fig. 6. In a modification, the ball of a ball-joint is secured to a tube by a screwed connection. Abutting tubes may have interfitting ends.</p> |
