<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper having an improved degree of freedom for setting such as damping characteristics and reaction.SOLUTION: This damper includes: first passages (111) and (112) and second passages (32), (99), and (235) communicating with one another so that a working fluid flows between two chambers (16) and (17) in response to movement of a piston (15); and passage-area adjustment mechanisms (101) and (236) adjusting passage areas of the second passages (99) and (235) depending on a position of the piston rod (18) so that the piston rod (18) has maximum length characteristics that an expansion damping force of the piston rod (18) is in a soft state and a contraction damping force of the piston rod (18) is in a hard state in a range in which the piston rod (18) extends outside of a cylinder (11) beyond a maximum-length predetermined position, or minimum length characteristics that the expansion damping force of the piston rod (18) is in a hard state and the contraction damping force of the piston rod (18) is in a soft state in a range in which the piston rod (18) enters the cylinder (11) beyond a minimum-length predetermined position.</p> |
