This embedded-permanent-magnet electric motor has a stator (2) and a rotor (1). The rotor has a plurality of separate permanent magnets (7) for each magnetic pole, and for each magnetic pole, a rotor core has a plurality of separate magnet insertion holes (9), the number thereof being equal to the number of permanent magnets. At each magnetic pole, a bridge (15) is provided between each pair of adjacent magnet insertion holes. Each bridge comprises a pair of parallel straight sections (16) and two pairs of curved sections (17), wherein: the straight sections contact end faces of the permanent magnets when said permanent magnets have been inserted into the magnet insertion holes; the curved sections connect to the ends of the straight sections; and the distance between the curved sections constituting each pair increases with increasing distance from the straight sections. |
