PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for delivering an effective amount of active agent to a subject in need thereof, for use in the treatment of a variety of different conditions, including both disease and non-disease conditions, particularly a delivery method via a percutaneous route.SOLUTION: Uniform, rigid, spherical nanoporous calcium phosphate particles that define an internal space and an amount of active agent present in the internal space are provided. Also provided are topical delivery compositions that include the active agent loaded in particles.
