In gas turbine engine combustion equipment a heat-resisting wall structure defining a space in which fuel is burnt comprises at least one ring of H-section, the web of the section extending radially and the two flanges extending axially. The outer flange of the ring or of each ring is welded to adjacent annular portions of the wall structure and the inner flange is slotted transversely to provide a multiplicity of pieces which are supported by the web. Air inlet holes are provided in the wall structure adjacent the web for the passage of pressure cooling air into the interior of the wall structure. The invention is shown applied in the case of a flame tube which comprises three tubular parts 72 with rings of H-section disposed therebetween, the outer flanges 71 of the rings being secured by welding to the parts 72. The inner flanges 70 of the rings are slotted transversely thereby dividing the flanges into a multiplicity of pieces 73. The slots extend through the webs of the H-section rings as indicated at 74 so that each piece 73 is supported by an individual web section. Holes 75 are provided in the outer flanges 71 to allow cooling air to flow over the inner surfaces of the tubular parts 72. The central tubular part 72 may be replaced by other H-section rings as indicated in broken lines, each formed similarly to the rings already described, the outer flanges 71 being welded together. |
