摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, as safety measure of a lithium ion battery, a carbon coat layer which generates gas in response to a rapid rise in the temperature of an electrolyte to interrupt the conduction of electricity between an active material layer and a collector.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a carbon coat layer and a coating material therefor. The carbon coat layer is provided on a collector, such as aluminum foil, copper foil and stainless foil for lithium ion batteries, for the purpose of reducing the internal resistance of the collector. The coating material for the carbon coat layer comprises: a material which generates gas when it is made a high temperature over an operating temperature. The carbon coat layer is formed by coating the collector with the coating material. Thus, the carbon coat layer is arranged so that the conduction of electricity between an active material and the collector is interrupted by the gas generated on condition that the temperature inside a lithium ion battery is raised rapidly.
