PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the amount of toner remaining in a developing apparatus accurately. ! SOLUTION: A developing apparatus includes: a toner detection section 100 which detects toner stored; a toner agitation section 56 which agitates the toner in a toner storage section; a calculation section 111 that compares an output voltage of the toner detection section 100, which indicates the presence of toner after agitation, with a predetermined voltage value to determine output duty; and a residual amount detection section 114 which determines the amount of remaining toner in the output duty, on the basis of the output duty and a correspondence between a preset toner residual amount and the output duty. !
