PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical instrument which includes a mechanism for preventing reprocessing of the surgical instrument and components thereof.SOLUTION: A surgical instrument includes: a microcontroller 400 coupled to a memory and configured to control the surgical instrument; and a usage counter 403 stored in the memory that is incremented when the surgical instrument is activated. The microcontroller is further configured to prevent actuation of the surgical instrument when the usage counter is above a predetermined threshold. |
