A system and method for patient-related messaging is disclosed herein. The system provides a micro-blogging platform accessible by computer systems (via a web portal using a conventional web browser) or mobile phones operated by medical personnel. The system allows medical personnel to post and/or view messages related to patient care, which could include a status identifier to communicate information quickly and effectively. The messages are easily filtered and organized according to a user's preferences, such as by using role-based filters.
