PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus capable of confirming file attribute information with ease. ! SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, an information processing apparatus into which an OS is installed, includes: a storage unit; a file-operation detection unit; a file-path acquisition unit; a file-attribute-information acquisition unit; and a display unit. The storage unit stores therein a file attribute of each file. The file-operation detection unit detects a file operation request from a user. The file-path acquisition unit interrupts a file open process performed by the OS in response to the file operation request upon detection of the file operation request, and acquires a file path of an operation target file. The file-attribute-information acquisition unit acquires the file attribute of the operation target file from the storage unit on the basis of the acquired file path.
