There is disclosed a turboshaft engine (10) having a principal rotational axis and comprising a power turbine (16), a tail bearing housing (18) and an exhaust collector (19) arranged in axial flow series along said axis. The tail bearing housing (18) has a radially central region (23) defining a flow chamber (35) for cooling air; and an annular duct (24) defined around the central region (23) and which forms at least part of an exhaust flow passage for the flow of exhaust gases from the power turbine (16) to the exhaust collector (19). The flow chamber (35) is provided in fluid communication with said exhaust collector (19) via at least one exhaust port (38) formed in the tail bearing housing (18) such that the flow of exhaust gases along said exhaust collector (19) during operation of the engine educes a flow of cooling air through the central flow chamber (35) by drawing air through the or each exhaust port (38) and into the exhaust collector (19). A related method of operating a turboshaft engine is also disclosed. |
