<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a porous film, by which a porous film having a controlled pore size and pore shape can be efficiently manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a porous film comprises: subjecting a polymer film that has been irradiated with heavy ions to chemical etching, where alcohol is brought into contact with the polymer film irradiated with heavy ions prior to the chemical etching.
