<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for color filters capable of producing a color filter having high lightness and a high contrast ratio compared with conventional ones by suppressing fluorescence emission that is a drawback of using xanthene-based dye and improving a decrease in the contrast ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The coloring composition for color filters includes the xanthene-based dye (A), an organic compound (B) having an organic pigment skeleton or an aminobenzene skeleton and a basic functional group, and a binder resin (C).
