An optical connection, comprising: an adapter (100) having a housing (102) and a splice guide (110); and a pair of splicing connectors (50) each having an outer housing (56) and a fiber guide (54) disposed within the outer housing (56), the splicing connectors (50) also including optical fibers (52) extending through the fiber guides (54); wherein: the fiber guides (54) and optical fibers (52) of the splicing connectors (50) allow relative movement there between; the outer housing (56) of each splicing connector (50) is received in and latched to the housing (102) of the adapter (100); and the optical fibers (52) are received and aligned by the splice guide (110) and abutted together within a cavity (114) of the splice guide (110) such that the splicing connectors (50) are mated in the adapter (100).
