<p>Tuberculosis is an infectious and chronic disease of easy diagnosis, due to the long replication time of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis.) that is the agent causing the disease. This means that, a bacterial colony isolated from a biological sample of a patient is visualized in a period of time ranging from 3 to 4 weeks. The present invention comprises a ceramic material designed for supporting and promoting the growth of M. tuberculosis in a more efficient manner than traditional solid or liquid culture media. This ceramic material, based on hydroxyapatite, is used as a pill added to the liquid culture media traditionally used for cultivating and isolating M. tuberculosis. In addition, the invention may be added to the drug susceptibility test along with the antifimics for this bacterium, the MABA (microplate alamar blue essay) optimizing the diagnosis time. The ceramic material promotes the spread of M. tuberculosis through the formation of a biofilm.</p> |
