The present invention relates to a laser welding apparatus and a laser welding method for manufacturing a lithium ion secondary battery. The laser welding apparatus can automatically and continuously weld metal components of the lithium ion secondary battery while minimizing damage to each component due to a laser beam. The laser welding apparatus welds a first metal component and a second metal component constituting the lithium ion secondary battery. The laser welding apparatus includes: a shield which has a bottom surface, a plurality of side surfaces erected on an edge of the bottom surface, and a welding chamber which has an open portion and is divided by a bottom surface and a plurality of side surfaces to accommodate a temporary metal assembly wherein the first metal component and the second metal component are temporality combined; a laser beam irradiation device which irradiates a laser beam to a contact part between the first metal component and the second metal component of the temporary metal assembly contained in the welding chamber; and an oxygen injection device which injects oxygen in the welding chamber. |
