[Problem] To reduce standby power consumption during non-operation in order to conserve power. [Solution] A tape printing device (1) has a regulator (147) able to output constant voltage to a secondary side based on voltage supplied from a direct-current power supply unit (134), and able to switch between a startup state for outputting constant voltage to the secondary side and a shutdown state for stopping output to the secondary side on the basis of the input of startup control signals from an outside unit; a trigger circuit (141) able to output startup control signals to start up the regulator (147) on the basis of voltage supplied when the primary-side power supply has been initialised, and able to stop output of the startup control signals on the basis of the input of release signals from an outside unit; and a CPU (137) operated by the constant voltage supplied by the regulator (147) and able to output startup control signals to the regulator (147) and release signals to the trigger circuit (141). |
