Provided are a display apparatus which determines whether an afterimage is existed or not as a block unit, and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment, the display apparatus comprises: a screen displaying an image; a calculation unit dividing the screen into a plurality of blocks, and determining whether the afterimage is existed or not for each block; and a control unit removing the afterimage existed in at least one block if the calculation unit determines that the afterimage is existed in at least one block among the blocks. |
