The exhaust gas system component has an inner skin (6) which defines an exhaust gas-guiding inner area (7), where an outer skin (8) is arranged at an outer side of the inner skin. The outer side of the inner skin is turned away from the inner area. A hollow space (9) is formed between the inner skin and the outer skin. A thermal insulator (10) is arranged in the hollow space. The insulator has a porous, dimensionally-stable mold body (11). An independent claim is included for an exhaust gas system with an exhaust gas-guiding pipe.
