The invention relates to a method for watermarking a three-dimensional object. The tree-dimensional object is represented by a mesh. A mesh comprises a plurality of vertices. The method further comprises extracting a geometrical primitive for the mesh; determining an original distribution of distances for the mesh, wherein a distance is computed between the geometrical primitive and a vertex of the mesh; modifying a position of a plurality of vertices of the mesh wherein a distribution of distance for the modified mesh reaches a target distribution, the target distribution being function of a watermark payload and of the original distribution of distances. Advantageously at least a vertex is modified along a defined direction distinct from the direction defined by said vertex to the geometrical primitive. The invention further relates to a method for detecting a watermark in athree-dimensional object, to devices for implementing the methods. |
