<p>An apparatus comprises a processor and memory including computer program code, which are configured to cause the apparatus to: transmit data via radio transmission on a carrier wave; interrupt transmission of the data while maintaining transmission of the carrier wave; after a first predetermined period of time, automatically interrupt transmission of the carrier wave for a second predetermined period of time; and once the second predetermined period of time has expired, automatically resume transmission of the carrier wave. The apparatus may be used to relay music or other media from a phone or pda to a car hifi such that when audio transmission is paused during (eg when answering a call), transmission of the unmodulated carrier only occurs up the period of time legally allowed by regulations. Transmission of the carrier resumes after the second period of time to prevent the hifi tuner from retuning due to absence of a signal. The process repeats cyclically for the duration of the paused media. May be used for FM, AM, DAB, BluetoothRTM or infrared transmission protocols.</p> |
