808,337. Securing non-metallic sheet materials. CARRARO, A. July 24, 1957 [July 24, 1956], No. 23511(57. Class 42 (1). Plastic material wound on a drum 8 is welded by means of a pressure or welding element 22 which is pivoted above the drum and is lowered to contact the drum and accompany the drum in its movement for an angle corresponding to the length of sheet material between two successive welding operations. As shown, the welding element 22 is pivoted in a toothed sector 31 pivoted on the same shaft 32 in which is mounted the drum 8. The motor which drives the drum 8 also rotates cams 14, 15. Cam 15 through levers 17, 19 causes the element 22 to drop against the drum and cam 14 causes the sector 31 to rotate by means of a rack 24 and gears 27, 28, 29, 30, so that the welding element accompanies the material to be welded during the whole time of welding. |
