<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tsunami detection system and a tsunami detection method which can shorten the time required for specifying the size (height) of a tsunami at sea after earthquake occurrence. <P>SOLUTION: A tsunami detection system which estimates a height of a tsunami caused by an earthquake includes: detection means for detecting an undersea sound wave which shows an undersea pressure change caused by the earthquake; reception means for receiving focal region information which shows the distance between a focal region of the earthquake and the detection means, and the size of the focal region; and estimation means for estimating the height of the tsunami in the focal region on the basis of a detection result of the detection means and the focal region information received by the reception means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
