<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the fitting of chips into an internal groove during the grooving of the plurality of internal grooves at an internal peripheral surface of a peripheral wall where projections are formed at equal intervals in a circumferential direction. <P>SOLUTION: The groove cutting tool 1 includes a cutting edge 12 having a front cutter 13 of a width matched with groove widths W of first and second snap ring grooves 105 and 106, and a cleaning dummy chip 20 having a chip removing member 22 narrower than the front cutter 13. The first snap ring groove 105 is grooved using the cutting edge 12 while the chip removing member 22 is not in contact with a clutch drum 100A which is a member to be machined. Then, the second snap ring groove 106 is grooved using the cutting edge 12 while the chip removing member 22 enters the grooved first snap ring groove 105 without coming in contact with the first snap ring groove 105.
