<p>This steering device is provided with: a steering shaft; a column rotatably supporting the steering shaft; a bracket attached to the column; a capsule having an upper clamp plate and a lower clamp plate for clamping a flange portion of the bracket, and constituted to be fastenable to the vehicle body; a connecting portion for linking the flange portion and the capsule such that the flange is separated towards the front of the vehicle from the capsule by impact force; a rounded portion formed in the front end portion of the flange portion, having a curvature radius that gradually varies in the vehicle width direction; and an energy absorbing member. The energy absorbing member has a back side portion fastened to the capsule, a frontward extending portion extending frontward from the back side portion, a cuff portion bent to the front of the rounded portion, and a rearward extending portion extending rearward on an incline in the vehicle width direction with respect to the center axis of the column.</p> |
