<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic composition in which viscosity reduction due to light irradiation is suppressed while containing a carboxyvinyl polymer. <P>SOLUTION: The ophthalmic composition contains the carboxyvinyl polymer andε-aminocaproic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and has viscosity of 200-100,000 mPa s. Further, the composition preferably contains naphazoline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The composition is further, preferably contains boric acid.
