1. An assembly for mounting a boot onto a sporting device, the assembly comprising:
a free-heel binding structured and arranged to retain a user's boot on the sporting device; the binding comprising:
a releasable locking mechanism to bind a front portion of the boot in relation to the sporting device;a receiving surface configured to receive and engage at least a portion of the boot rearward of the locking mechanism; a wedge device configured to support the binding on the sporting device along a slope extending longitudinally, in relation to a bottom surface of the sporting device, rearwardly and downwardly so that a front of a bottom of the user's boot is more greatly spaced from the bottom surface of the sporting device than a rear of the bottom of the user's boot; the receiving surface of the binding is secured upon the wedge-shaped device against vertical movement in relation to the sporting device; the wedge device having a forwardly-increasing thickness.
