摘要 A rotary engine using a swing vane separating expansion chambers is provided for operation with a pressurized fuel or fuel expanding during a rotation of the engine. A swing vane pivots about a pivot point on the rotor yielding an expansion chamber separator ranging from the width of the swing vane to the length of the swing vane. The swing vane optionally slidingly extends to dynamically lengthen or shorten the length of the swing vane. The combination of the pivoting and the sliding of the vane allows for use of a double offset rotor in the rotary engine and the use of rotary engine housing wall cut-outs and/or buildups to expand rotary engine expansion chamber volumes with engine rotation yielding corresponding increases in rotary engine power and/or efficiency.

A rotary apparatus, comprising: a rotor; a shaft, said rotor configured to rotate about said shaft; an inlet port; a housing, said rotor operatively mounted about said shaft within said housing, said shaft offset along both an x-axis and a y-axis relative to a center of said housing, said shaft offset toward said inlet port along at least one of said x-axis and said y-axis, said x-axis and said y-axis defining a plane perpendicular to an axis of rotation of said shaft; a first swing vane, said first swing vane comprising: a first vane base unit comprising a first pivot point and a first curved outer surface; anda first vane head comprising a first curved inner surface, said first curved outer surface of said first vane base unit configured to telescopically slide along a curved longitudinal path relative to said first curved inner surface of said first vane head to dynamically longitudinally extend to span a first distance between said rotor and said housing; and a second swing vane, said second swing vane comprising: a second vane base unit comprising a second pivot point and a second curved outer surface; anda second vane head comprising a second curved inner surface, said second curved outer surface of said second vane base unit configured to telescopically slide relative to said second curved inner surface of said second vane head to span a second distance between said rotor and said housing, wherein, at a first point in time, said inlet port terminates at a first expansion chamber, said first expansion chamber partially enclosed by said first swing vane, said rotor, and said housing; wherein said first pivot point, a radial center of said shaft, and said second pivot point are collinear, and wherein said radial center of said shaft comprises an equally distant distance to said first pivot point and said second pivot point.
