<p>THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A COMPACT MULTI-USE LADDER (10) WITH IMPROVED LOCKING MECHANISMS (30A, 30B). ACCORDINGLY, THE IMPROVED LOCKING MECHANISM (30A / 30B) INCLUDES TWO LOCK HANDLES (32) OPPOSITELY ENGAGED AT EACH OPENING END OF OUTER LADDER RUNG (22), AND AN ELASTIC MEANS (40) CONNECTING THE TWO LOCK HANDLES (32). THE LOCK HANDLES (32) HAVE A HOOK (33) PROJECTS THROUGH OPENING (31) OF THE OUTER SIDE RAIL PAIRS (13, 15) TO ENGAGE WITH APERTURES (24) FORMED AT OUTSIDE SURFACE OF THE INNER SIDE RAIL PAIRS (12, 14), AND A SHAFT (35) EXTENDS FROM LOCK HANDLES (32) THROUGH OPENING END (23) OF PROTECTIVE COVERS (26) AND INTO HOLLOW OF THE OUTER LADDER RUNG (22). SAID LOCK HANDLES (32) FURTHER INCLUDES A CUT-OFF PORTION (36) TO PROVIDE A SPACE TO ACCOMMODATE RIVET (28) THAT PROJECTED THEREIN FROM ITS CONNECTION INTO THE HOLLOW OF THE OUTER LADDER RUNG (22). SAID CUT-OFF PORTION (36) SERVES A GUIDE RAIL TO ENABLE THE LOCK HANDLE (32) TO BE SLIDABLY MOVED IN BETWEEN ENGAGED AND DISENGAGED POSITIONS. THE RIVET (28) IS IN ASSOCIATED WITH A PROTRUDED LIP (38) PROVIDED AT ONE END OF THE CUT-OFF PORTION (36) TO SERVE AS A STOPPER TO PREVENT LOCK HANDLES (32) FROM BEING DISENGAGED FROM THE OUTER LADDER RUNG (22). THE ELASTIC MEANS (40) IS ATTACHED TO A HOLDING BRACKET (34) AT THE LOCK HANDLES (32).</p> |
