A catalyst according to the present invention is a newly manufactured salen-type catalyst that contains at least one of compounds indicated by Formula 1 of Claim 1 and compounds indicated by Formula 2 of Claim 1 and a manufacturing method for aromatic carbonate ester according to the present invention involves a phase of chemical reactions between aromatic alcohol and CO2 to manufacture aromatic carbonate ester assuming that the catalyst exists. The manufacturing method for aromatic carbonate ester can be used to manufacture aromatic carbonate ester at a very high yield rate.
