The present invention relates to a method for producing a carbonate compound which comprises: a first step wherein a reaction mixture containing a carbonate compound is obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula (1) with a compound represented by formula (21) or a compound represented by formula (22); and a second step wherein the thus obtained reaction mixture is brought into contact with a strongly basic compound.
