摘要 <p>The present invention relates to a propulsion apparatus for a ship comprising: a contra-rotating propeller composed of a rear propeller and a front propeller; a counter-rotating device to rotate the front propeller in a direction opposite to a rotating direction of the rear propeller; an integrated inner axis having a rear end part combined with the rear propeller having a front end part combined with the drive axis of a power source; and an outer axis composed of a first outer axis having a rear end part combined with the front propeller, having a front end part combined with the counter-rotating device, and a second outer axis having a rear end part connected to the counter-rotating device having a front end part connected to the drive axis wherein the counter-rotating device is installed and fixated to the front or rear side of a stern partition wall. According to the present invention, the propulsion apparatus for a ship is configured such that the counter-rotating device can directly be installed on the stern partition wall without a sleeve coupling part to connect a first inner axis and a second inner axis which constitute a traditional inner axis, and without a traditional intermediate outer axis part to connect a traditional first outer axis to a traditional counter-rotating gear box, on an axial system which is an intermediate medium to convert power generated from a power source into a rotational force in different directions to rotate the counter-rotating propeller. Accordingly, the length of the inner and outer axes can be reduced, and the inner axis can integrally be manufactured easily. Because the outer axis can be composed of first and second outer axes, the axial system can be lightened and the structure thereof can be simplified; a larger inner space inside an engine room can be ensured; reliability of the axial system can be enhanced; and production and product competitiveness can be increased when compared with a traditional design by reducing installation costs and production costs.</p>
