The present invention relates to an engine for a ship. The engine intake structure of an engine room (10) of a ship is blocked from the outside and has the inlet (21) of the engine (20) arranged therein to suck inner air into the intake pump (unillustrated) of the engine. In the outer air intake structure, an end part is connected to the inlet (21) of the engine (20) and the other end part extends out of the engine room (10) so that the air outside the engine room (10) can be supplied directly to the inlet (21) of the engine (20). Therefore, the engine room, which is blocked from the outside and has the inlet of the engine arranged therein, has an outer air intake structure such that an end part thereof is connected to the inlet of the engine and the other end part thereof extends out of the engine room so that outer air can be supplied directly to the inlet of the engine. Combustion efficiency of the engine is improved and thus the performance of the engine is improved by supplying outer cold air at temperature lower than the temperature of high-temperature air inside the engine room to the engine. |
