1. A method performed by one or more processors of a mobile computing device, the method comprising:
analyzing text in a record to identify a data item that contains a sequence of characters and that is actionable to initiate communication with another device; presenting the record on a contact-sensitive display of the mobile computing device while displaying the identified data item as a selectable link; detecting a user selection of the selectable link; and in response to detecting the user selection, presenting, on the contact-sensitive display, a user-selectable menu including at least an option to add the identified data item to a corresponding contact of a contact record database stored on the mobile computing device.
