The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical formulation containing yellow-poplar bark extract as an active ingredient for treating chronic myelogenous leukemia. More particularly, the pharmaceutical formulation contains yellow-poplar bark extract to induce apoptosis by cutting of poly ADP ribose polymerases (PARPs) and caspases-3 which are associated with change in the mitochondria membrane potential (MMP) and with apoptosis pathways in a leukemia-developed cell, in order to selectively inhibit mutant enzyme T315I due to BCR-ABL fused gene mutation, which is a causative gene for chronic myelogenous leukemia.
