PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide adapter assemblies for use in surgical systems.SOLUTION: An adapter assembly 200 selectively interconnects a surgical device 100 with a surgical attachment 300. The adapter assembly includes a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end including at least one mating part adapted to be detachably connected to the surgical device and configured to permit coupling of the adapter assembly to the surgical device in at least a first connection orientation and a second connection orientation.
