PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emphasize a contour in accordance with relative luminous efficiency by suppressing jaggies. ! SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus comprises: an edge detection section 1; a contour determination section 2; and a contour processing section 6. The edge detection section 1 calculates a difference in a pixel value between each pixel and peripheral pixels therearound for each color, and detects an edge for each color in accordance with a result of comparing the difference in the pixel value, obtained for each color, with a threshold which is predetermined for each color. The contour determination section 2 determines pixels which are determined as edges in any color by the edge detection section 1 as a contour.
