[Problem] With respect to a cask that can hold a radioactive material for storage or transport, to configure such cask so that a homogeneous coating is not used. [Solution] In the present invention, molten lead serving as a gamma ray shielding material is poured between an inner cylinder (2) and an intermediate barrel (3) and then cooled, and thereafter a low melting point metal (10) is filled, in a state of close contact, into, for example, both a first gap layer (9a) generated in a boundary section between the inner cylinder (2) and the poured lead (5a), and a second gap layer (9b) generated in the boundary section between the intermediate barrel (3) and the poured lead (5a). [Effect] By filling the gap layers (9a, 9b), which prevent the dissipation of heat from the cask (1), with a low melting point metal (10) which excels in thermal conductivity, the heat dissipating effects of the cask (1) are improved. |
