PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that sets the priority to a plurality of sensors and controls the sensors while classifying into sensors that can be replaced by other sensors at failure and sensors that cannot be replaced by other sensors, so as to improve the operating ratio of the apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of sensors and a control unit that controls the units of the apparatus on the basis of the input values from the sensors. The sensors are classified into a plurality of ranks on the basis of the priority during the execution of an image forming operation. When any of the sensors has failed, the control unit determines whether to continue the state where the image formation can be performed or changes to the state where the image formation cannot be performed according to the rank of the failed sensor. |
