This optical recording medium is provided with a transmissive recording layer containing an oxide of a metal (MA), an oxide of a metal (MB), and an oxide of a metal (MC). The metal (MA) is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Mn and Ni, the metal (MB) is at least one metal selected from the group consisting of W and Mo, and the metal (MC) is Zr. The atom ratio (MA/M­B) of the metal (MA) to the metal (MB) is 0.37-1.31 inclusive. The metal (MC) content of the transmissive recording layer is 0.9-27.5 at% inclusive.
