PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a tire mass while maintaining durability performance of a tire.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a pneumatic tire having a tread reinforcement layer 7. In the method, a tread reinforcement layer molding process includes a winding process in which a belt-like ply 11 is wound on a substantially cylindrical surface to be wound. The winding process includes: a first winding process in which the belt-like ply 11 is spirally wound from a first end part 7e positioned on one side of a tire axial direction to a second end part 7i positioned on the other side of the tire axial direction in such a manner that side edges 11s of the belt-like ply 11 are separated from each other; and second winding process in which the belt-like ply 11 is spirally wound in a direction reverse to that in the first winding process from the second end part 7i to the first end part 7e in such a manner that the side edges 11s of the belt-like ply are separated from each other. By this method, a lattice-like tread reinforcement layer 19 having a clearance 24 of substantially rhombus shape, which is surrounded by the belt-like ply 11, is formed. |
