摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly active catalyst component for olefin polymerization, an olefin polymerization catalyst, and a method for producing an olefin (co)polymer using the catalyst.SOLUTION: A catalyst component for olefin polymerization is characterized by comprising an ion-exchanging phyllosilicate which has the following property 1 and preferably further has the following property 2 and the like. Property 1: In a pore distribution curve calculated by BJH analysis using an adsorption isotherm determined by a nitrogen adsorption method, the sum of the volumes of pores having a diameter of 2-10 nm is 60-100% of the total mesopore volume. Property 2: In X-ray diffractometry (XRD), there is a peak (m) in 2&thetas;=19.6-20.0 degrees, and when the intensity thereof is expressed by a peak intensity (M), then there is no peak (i) other than the peak (m) in the 2&thetas;=15-25 degrees, or there is a peak (i) therein and a peak intensity (I) of the peak (i) and the peak intensity (M) satisfy a relationship of 0<(I/M)&le;1.6.
