<p>A printing apparatus is described, comprising:
at least one pad (1) comprising a cavity (30) and a printing surface (10),
a printing device (2, 3) adapted to form at least one image portion (5) on the printing surface of the least one pad,
pad moving means (13) adapted to orient the pad in a first working position (A) in which said image portion is formed in said printing surface of the pad by means of said printing device and in a second working position (B), different from the first working position, in which said image portion is imprinted on the object (6) to be decorated by pressing the pad onto the object,
further means (31-37, 40) adapted to act on the cavity (30) of the pad to determine a flat shape of the printing surface (10) of the entire pad in the first working position (A) and a substantially convex shape of the printing surface (10) of the entire pad in the second working position (B).
