PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound for prevention or treatment of diseases caused by protozoans.SOLUTION: One or more kinds of a compound of the formula (I), where X represents a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbon atoms, Rrepresents -CHO, -C(=O)R, -COOR, where Rrepresents an alkyl group having 1 to 7 carbon atoms, -CHOH or -COOH, Rrepresents an alkyl group having 1 to 16 carbon atoms and various substituents on a terminal carbon and/or a non-terminal carbon, an alkenyl group having 2 to 16 carbon atoms and various substituents on a terminal carbon and/or a non-terminal carbon and an alkynyl group having 2 to 16 carbon atoms and various substituents on a terminal carbon and/or a non-terminal carbon, an optical isomer thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are used.
