The invention relates to a pressing device (1) with an endless conveyor (2) which comprises a plurality of conveying elements (3) which are connected to each other in an endless circulating link and adjacent conveying elements (3) are pivotably connected to each other in each case via a pin (10) forming a pivot axis, and with at least one press roller (7) which is provided in a pressing zone (PZ) in order to apply pressure to the material to be pressed, which is conveyed on the endless conveyor (2), between the press roller (7) and the endless conveyor (2). According to the invention, the pressing device (1) is characterized in that adjacent conveying elements (3) of the endless conveyor (2) have intermeshing fingers (8, 9) and the pin (10) connecting the conveying elements (3) penetrates said fingers (8, 9), and that in the pressing zone (PZ) the conveying elements (3) assume a pivot position with respect to each other in such a way that the outer side of the endless conveyor (2) in this region (PZ) forms a closed, plate-like surface without protrusions or recesses, and that the pressing zone (PZ) follows a break open zone (ABZ) in the circumferential direction of the endless conveyor (2), in which break open zone (ABZ) the endless conveyor (2) is deflected in such a way that the outer side thereof is concavely bent (cf.
