PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the breaking of wire in a lead part at a boundary area between a solid electrolyte and an insulating member while reducing the amount of materials used for the lead part in a gas sensor element equipped with a plurality of cells and equipped with at least one cell in which the solid electrolyte can be provided in a through-hole of the insulating member.SOLUTION: In a gas sensor element 7 of an air-fuel ratio sensor 1, a lead part 87a of an oxygen pump cell 89 is connected to a lead connection part 82 in a boundary area 80. Furthermore, the lead connection part 82 is connected to a lead part 77a, with only the lead part 87a connected to an extension lead part 87b. Therefore, the amount of materials used for the lead part can be reduced. In addition, even when a level difference between a solid electrolyte 83 and an insulating member 84 in the boundary area 80 becomes larger, the lead part 87a and the lead connection part 82 can be kept in a joined state, without the lead part 87a being disconnected due to the lead connection part 82, so that the lead part 87a can be prevented from being disconnected in the boundary area 80. |
