<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery which is improved in a capacity in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using a positive electrode containing a lithium composite oxide as a positive electrode active material. <P>SOLUTION: The battery includes: a positive electrode using a solid solution of LiMO<SB>2</SB>, Li<SB>2</SB>MnO<SB>3</SB>and NiO as the positive electrode active material; a negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material is obtained by subjecting a mixture of a solid solution of LiMO<SB>2</SB>and Li<SB>2</SB>MnO<SB>3</SB>with NiO to solid solution treatment, and the amount of NiO contained in the positive electrode active material is 3-13 mass% based on the total amount of the positive electrode active material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
